Abstract Ɩ Full Text

Cognition has long been known as a mechanism to process message besides forming desirable attitude. However, the engagement of emotions that has been limited in its discussions to the message processing theory such as the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) could also function as influencer to message processing and contributor to attitude formation. Hence, the purpose of this research is to examine the effects of need for cognition (NFC), need for affect (NFA) and perceived humour on consumers’ attitude towards the brands advertised. The research engaged three main studies and has adopted a quantitative basic experimental design with a random selection and distribution of participants into treatment groups. Result of study 1 showed that advertising attitude mediates between NFC and brand attitude. Study 2 found that NFA moderates between NFC and brand attitude. Study 3 revealed that NFA moderates between perceived humour and brand attitude. Finally, the results also determined that NFC, NFA, and perceived humour influence the processing of advertising message in the low and high involvement conditions of message elaborations. The findings encourage future researchers to further assess consumers’ attitude towards brand in various advertising contexts in more detail. The study contributes to the advertising guidelines for advertising firms and policy makers. In addition, the study contributes to the theoretical establishment of the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) that can be used for future research extension.

Abstract Ɩ Full Text

The purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating role of knowledge sharing in the relationship between supply chain integration and supply chain performance. This study used a survey questionnaire for a sample size of 277 managers from various sectors in the manufacturing industry in Jordan.  This study utilised PLS Structural Equation Modeling for testing the hypothesis.  The finding indicates a significant positive relationship between supply chain integration and supply chain performance and that knowledge sharing plays partial mediation in this relationship. This study provides an important implication on the role of knowledge sharing. The performance of the supply chain can be maximised if the supply chain partners share knowledge among them. This will expedite the process of delivering the products to the customers.  Awareness among partners on the importance to share and utilise knowledge better should be raised. The study contributes to the research on supply chain management by advancing the understanding of the role of knowledge sharing that can increase the performance of the supply chain partners.

Abstract Ɩ Full Text

This paper aims to examine the effect of macroeconomic condition on microcredit coverage in Malaysia. The Microcredit Organizations (MO) was established to complement the mainstream financial institutions but challenges remain with microcredit performances associated with microcredit coverage. The paper accordingly investigates the effects of macroeconomic condition on microcredit coverage in the Malaysian context. To achieve the objective, the static panel data technique is adopted, which comprises 13 states and three Federal Territories in the country, spanning 2011 to 2015. The findings reveal  the resiliency of MO towards macroeconomic conditions in Malaysia. The increase in the inflation rate and agriculture GDP (LNAGDP) share shows significant negative and positive effects (non-resilient) on microcredit coverage. The main findings will assist in addressing the newly identified macroeconomic condition to improve on micro credit performance. Policy implications emanating from the study are expected to be relevant to the government, MOs and borrowers. The government accordingly can make important contributions to borrowers by maintaining macroeconomic stability (inflation and LNAGDP share) through appropriate policies in order to achieve good microcredit coverage. MOs may revisit the existing quality regulation (MOs risk weighing loan disbursement) based on the macroeconomic condition which, in turn, can be used in outreaching more microcredit borrowers. Finally, this study may also help to elucidate specific understanding of the government and MO objectives in outreaching microcredit borrowers.

Environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and the loss of biodiversity are the concerns of society in different parts of the world today. As human activities have adverse impacts on the environment, developing pro-environmental behaviour in each individual is an essential aspect of protecting mother earth. The primary purpose of this research is to evaluate the influence of green work climate perceptions and harmonious environmental passion on pro-environmental behaviour (PEB). Additionally, the mediating effect of harmonious environmental passion between green work climate and PEB is determined. A total of 167 academics from a private university in Malaysia participated in this study. The results from Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modelling suggested that green work climate and harmonious environmental passion positively influence PEB. Apart from this, harmonious environmental passion partially mediates the relationship between green work climate and PEB. The results indicate that leaders should actively shape the perception of green work climate within their organisations through policies and procedures that support environmental sustainability efforts, as well as effectively communicate with their employees. Such efforts will lead to greater harmonious environmental passion, in turn, promoting pro-environmental behaviour among members.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between supervisors’ coach, learning motivation and job motivation. Survey questionnaires were used to collect data from employees at Malaysian Federal Government Central Agencies, Putrajaya. The SmartPLS was utilised to evaluate the quality of survey questionnaire data and hence test the research hypotheses. The outcomes of SmartPLS path model analysis display that effect of supervisors’ coach on job motivation has indirectly been affected by learning motivation. This outcome explains that the ability of supervisors to appropriately implement coaching in executing daily job operations had strongly invoked employees’ learning motivation. As a result, this motivation could lead to a higher job motivation. Further, this outcome may be used as a useful guideline to assist practitioners in upgrading their understanding of the complexity of learning motivation concept and draw strategic action plans to strengthen managerial coaching in maintaining and enhancing the organisational strategies and objectives in an era of globalisation and knowledge based economy.

Abstract

The encouragement of the development of halal industry and Islamic finance indicates positive understanding of global Muslim community on the importance of these two industries. However, at the operational level of halal, the literature review shows that the integration of these two industries is still at the low level. In Malaysia, the screening process for JAKIM halal certification has still not verified that the Islamic financial instrument complies with the work capital financing and financial transaction of halal industry. This situation has to some extent tarnished the credibility of Malaysian halal ecosystem as it is still not able to guarantee that the halal concept is executed fully from the farm until on plate. Therefore, this study aims to examine the consumers’ consent towards empowering the measures of screening for Malaysian halal certification by obligating Islamic financial integration in national halal standard. By implementing survey method to respondents around Lembah Klang, this study analysed collected data through binomial logistic regression. The study found that majority of the consumers agreed that the integration of halal industry and Islamic finance be executed to improve the standard and procedures of JAKIM halal compliance. Several factors have been recognised to be significant to this consent such as factor of religious education, halal awareness, halal literacy and Islamic financial literacy. Suggestion for this improvement at the same time will uplift the integrity of national halal certification that it will be more comprehensive and competitive at the international level.
